a lot more art this month, yaaayyyy!

sorin, rias (+ asher and venn). besides a suggestive comic last month, i hadn't drawn these two in a while. i can tell i was beginning to get comfortable drawing again because the first sketch has minimal, fluid strokes. but then i hit a bump with the second sketch- i got way too ambitious way too quickly so it's unfinished. ashvenn and sorinrias are my main pairs. they have a lot in common and frankly i'm surprised i never thought to draw them all together. the second and third drawings referenced/used a base.

the chibi drawing is really cute... be weirded out more, sorin.

asher and venn. when i first drew this i didn't post it anywhere because i didn't like it. looking back, it's fine, but i know i was trying to get warmed up.

i don't mean to talk negatively about my art, but it's difficult to divorce my art process and state of mind from the art piece. i'll have a positive perception of a piece if it came to me more naturally or when i had a positive relationship with art. the quality of my art is entirely dependent on these factors, often out of my control. even if i draw quickly, i'm not always satisfied.

pair oc. i love vampire ocs and wanted to make another with a friend! i'm planning to redesign him soon, but i think this design is also pretty cute. the first two drawings were done on medibang, and the third in procreate. i like doing character designs on medibang. i get the feeling something evil brews up inside me when i plan a character designs on procreate (as in, i don't like it).

witch hat atelier fanart, in celebration of the anime coming out. know that i was an og. all the characters are amazing but coustas holds a special place in my heart.

mcsr fanart (feinberg, hax, couriway). what a beautiful, colorful line-up... my love of mcsr had reignited and i started watching my favorite runners again. i got into hax, casually watched feinberg and i drew couriway an hour before season 10 playoffs started. keeping up with the runners and the artists that make the community truly has been a highlight of these past few months. so many talented people and such a warm community. i had so much fun tuning into the two recent LAN events, midoffs included (congrats to evbo!), and of course couriway's 10,000th no reset speedrun. i won't forget staying up late on day 1 of season 10 playoffs certain i'd only watch one match before going to bed (i ended up staying till the very end. more on this later). couriway has especially warmed up to me with how genuinely passionate he is about the game, all of its intricacies, and his philosophy for his no reset journey. i get excited when he talks so passionately about stats that no other runner would know about themselves (amount of netherrack mined!?)

this is all to say, i started drawing again, with a lot more motivation because of mcsr.

pair ocs, lucian (mine) and caspian. a knight and his prince. these two are ocs another friend and i made 2 years ago but we never developed them until this month. all it took was one call and we came up with a pretty well rounded story from start to finish.

around 4 years ago, i used to make countless of pair/group ocs. but for a while, i struggled to find that same spark i used to get making them. something about aspen (vampire oc) and revisiting lucian brought back that spark.

on day 1 of season 10 mcsr playoffs, hax, 2x back to back playoffs winner and 7x top 3 placement, lost 3-0 to silverrruns in round 1, the very first match-up of the day. i was obsessed with how artists rushed to draw him in beautifully painted pieces, so i also joined.

it was my first time tuning in live and closely following along to playoffs. as with any competition, there was some controversy and mixed emotions but overall i enjoyed the sentiment and spirit that comes from watching these matches! something special about mcsr playoffs is that although i quite enjoy watching hax, hax is good friends with silverr, as is the case with most if not all of the top runners, so any melancholic feelings are usually shortlived.

evbo sneak....

and to round off the month, an asher sketch i drew on the plane.
